Sunday Social!

So this Sunday Social is right up my alley! I'm not a movie buff because I actually haven't seen that many movies but I love watching them... Haha! Since we moved in our new house and changed over to Xfinity, it's gotten even worse. Now that we have all these movie channels I feel like all I do is watch movies. Mostly the same ones over and over again, but who cares? I mean, it's not like I was very productive anyway, but it's gotten even worse. "Oh... Harry Potter is on... again... that's so much more fun than laundry!" Okay, here we go!

1. What is your favorite movie of all time?
Dirty Dancing. I've got my radio on the Pandora Carolina beach music station and it's playing one of the songs as I type. It just makes me so happy!

2. What is your favorite movie quote?
If by favorite you mean the one I say all the blessed time - then it's, "Help me, I'm poor!"

3. What is the best movie to watch for a girls night in?
Definitely Bridesmaids or Pitch Perfect. I could watch them over and over and over...

4. What is the best break-up movie?
Well it depends on the break-up I guess. I love Bridget Jones Diary and The Notebook, but I'd probably watch one of the movies mentioned above!

5. Who would you want to play you in a movie about your life?
Jennifer Lawrence. Because I'm obsessed with her.

6. Which movie star's closet would you want to raid?
Does Kate Middleton count? Perfection. Seriously? So unfair.

Maybe I'll go watch a movie right now!

Year One

So I'm a little behind on posting about our First Anniversary. I had intended on posting on our anniversary but I don't think I even picked up the computer on our trip. I was too busy doing nothing. And I'm okay with that!

Since Chris was off on our anniversary, we decided at the last minute to head to Destin for a few days. It would have been nice to be here again...

...but since Chris just bought me a house I guess I'll let it slide! I'm okay with going back for our ten year anniversary though... and I mean the one next year, not nine years from now! You listening honey? :)

Anyway! We've only been to Destin a couple of times and we stayed in bigger places those times so we didn't have anywhere we specifically wanted to stay. We ended up renting a condo off of VRBO and it turned out okay. The condo was really nice but we had some super noisy neighbors. Somehow that always happens to us!

I only took a couple of pictures because I managed to get burned to a crisp on the very first day. Now, y'all probably already know about my sun allergy. And (mom) I swear I don't know what happened! I slathered myself in Neutrogena sunscreen and was barely in the sun! I'll spare you all the horrific photos I sent to Mom and Haley...

I was so mad at myself and felt so bad for Chris! Luckily he doesn't mind being trapped inside. He works so hard that a couple of days of sleep, movies, and reading sounded like the perfect vacation to him. We went out a couple of times during the day and found some delicious restaurants!

After two days of cold showers, multiple bottles of lotion, too many milligrams of Benedryl to count, and half a gallon of milk (seriously, it worked wonders on my skin) we were finally able to hit up the beach again. Only under the umbrella of course...

Here are a couple of pictures I snapped with my phone

Lunch on the harbor on our first day

Yes, we are those people with the annoying umbrella

Yes, please

The sunburn is almost gone!

Fudpuckers - highly overrated if you ask me!

I love marble slab! They are so hard to find nowadays!

Thanks, sister!

Drinks at The Crab Shack. YUM.

Our favorite restaurant. The best crab legs!

Lunch at Pompano Joes

We had a great time celebrating our first year of marriage! We are heading to my favorite place in the world next week for round two - any guesses where that might be? :) So stay tuned!

Never ever ever...

I'm linking up for this post with Neely, Shelley, and Stephanie! Since this is my first link-up it'll probably be pretty predictable. Let's see what I can come up with...

I will never ever ever...

...smoke a cigarette. My grandfather died of lung cancer and I think they are the worst thing ever created!

...be able to totally give up Coke! Sometimes I do better than others and can wean myself off, but I love it too much to live without it!

...want to watch anything more than Golden Girls. Seriously, y'all... best. show. ever. created.

...buy a dog or cat while there are thousands put to sleep due to overpopulation. Maybe one day people will be responsible and we won't have that problem! Until then, "Don't breed or buy while shelter pets die!"

...stop saying, y'all. Or dang it. Or Lord have mercy. Or bless your heart. Sh%t Southern Women Say!

...have a conversation without sticking my foot in my mouth. Oopsy Daisy.

...get tired of quoting "Bridesmaids." Help me, I'm poor!

...have a good tan  :(  Darn you sun allergy!

Dad's Potting Bench

It's no secret that I think my dad is the best thing since sliced bread. Besides just generally being the best dad ever, he is ridiculously talented. He can build, fix, make, and do anything! He's a fantastic woodworker and has been building cabinets since before Hal and I were born.

Lately he has discovered... Pinterest. And y'all, it's getting serious. There might need to be a pintervention soon. Here's the thing... I am a self-proclaimed Pinterest addict but I'm all talk. I follow through with a few projects (mostly when I can wrangle dad into helping) but Dad gets an idea and about five minutes later he's built an addition onto the house or something. Okay, not really, but kinda. Unlike me, he actually finishes his projects... that was for you, Hal. He has been throwing together projects left and right lately!

This is one of my favorites - his new potting bench. He just up and built it one afternoon! Dad has a green thumb and every little plant he touches springs to life. He's not a big gardener but he can literally pull a dead twig off a plant and stick it in a pot and it's like Jack and the bean stalk up in here.

He got a bargain on this sink at Habitat for Humanity - where he finds most of his bargains! He wanted a sink with some counter space to the side for a work space. He plants in the sink and lets the excess potting soil fall down into the bucket underneath and covers it up for later use. He made a shelf across the top to hang some tools and surprised mom with these pretty flowers when he finished. He's just the best.

Now Dad, where's mine?

I realized just how dark the above photos were when I looked at these. We took these next pictures to use for our First Anniversary photo book. Yes, we are cheeseballs. Also, Chris is 23094390 x more photogenic than me. Boys.

This inspires me. Unfortunately, inspiration needs dollars and talent. Neither of which I currently possess. Now off to Pinterest to find some free and easy inspiration! Who's with me?

Friday's Love List

Even though it's technically not Friday anymore, I thought I'd do this link-up with The Magnolia Pair. I love blog link-ups because it gives you the chance to find blogs you might never see otherwise! Blogging has turned into such a positive force for good in my life - not because of my own blog but because of the blogs I find and follow.

What I'm loving this Friday...

1. This blue eyed baby kitten...

I love having a buddy home with me while Chris is at work! She makes everything more fun!

2. This hair cut...
3. And this guy of course...

I said i was going to chop my hair off after the wedding a year ago... and I just did it! It's so much easier, cooler, and comfortable! I do not miss drying my hair for twenty minutes in the 90 degree heat!

4. This video my family and I have been dying over...

This reminds me so much of Jasper and, "his face." Hilarious!

5. Spending a weekend at home with all my favorites...
It's not very often that Chris and I get to come home together for a whole weekend. He has a big to do list this weekend and I get to hang out with my Mom and sister. We have a fun day planned for tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Maybe next week I'll be a bit more prepared and have a better post!

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Wagon Wheel Update

Remember the wagon wheel my dad got at the 90 mile yard sale? Well, unlike me, my dad has his act together. He has already given it a new home! He put it in his flower bed at the top of the driveway. He's been working on this bed for a while and I think he finally has it looking how he wants it. I think it looks great! I can't wait to see what it looks like when the Clematis really starts growing!

I'm hoping that by sharing this, I'll be inspired to get to work on some projects at my house ;)

Meet Darla

By now y'all know I am animal crazy - I don't even try to hide it anymore. I love both cats and dogs and would rescue a hundred of them if I could! Since we got married I have said I was going to go get a dog or a cat every day. I even hypothetically named our new pet, "Muffin." As you can tell that name didn't stick.

Things were so hectic that it kept getting put off until all of a sudden we had been married a year. When we started looking at houses we decided that as soon as we moved we would look for a cat or a kitten. Our house has a fully fenced in back yard but it needs a little work along the bottom to make it safe for a dog. That will be our next adventure!

I was open to a cat or a kitten - I just knew I would know it was ours when I saw it. One week before we officially moved into the new house (also my last week at school) I saw these sweet photos on the Habersham Animal Shelter's Facebook Page -

Seriously? Look at that face! It was love at first sight. We still had a little over a week to go and I was not even in Habersham to go get her. I tried to talk my Mom into going to get her but she couldn't do it - she really would have come out with an arm full if she went in! I figured it just wasn't good timing and I'd wait until after we were settled in the new house.

It just so happened that the Mountain Laurel Parade was that weekend and the shelter was going to have some animals at the parade for adoption. We decided to go see if she was still available by chance. I knew she would have already been adopted but I thought we'd go look anyway.

I spotted her from across the parking lot and couldn't even wait for the staff to get her out of the cage for me. I scooped her up and headed straight to the adoption table to fill out my paperwork and I got to take her home that day.

It's crazy how quickly she has become a part of our little family. It's like she has been here all along. I don't know how people live without pets, y'all. They just make life better all the way around. And like I've said before, there's nothing like the love of an adopted pet.

Here's an obnoxious amount of photos of our sweet little Darla cat

Go adopt a shelter pet today!
